Mia Famiglia | Our Story

Nearly 30 years on Main Street

Mia Famiglia opened in 1997 with one idea: a real Italian deli, done right. Nearly three decades later, the bread is still fresh every morning, and the mozzarella still made by hand. We look forward to serving you soon! Scott and Domenick, Owners
How it started

How it started

Mia Famiglia has been a beloved local institution that’s been serving the Milburn and northern New Jersey community for decades. Established in 1997, this traditional Italian deli and grocery store is a feast for the senses from the moment you step through the door. The air is filled with the irresistible scent of fresh Italian delicacies made with the finest ingredients and with recipes handed down for generations.
What happens every morning

What happens every morning

Bread arrives before 7 AM. Mozzarella is pulled by hand. Homemade soup is simmering on the stove and sfogliatelle pastries are in the oven. Mia’s own blend of coffee is brewing. Prosciutto, mortadella, and sharp provolone are all prepped and waiting to be sliced when you order. The daily ritual hasn't changed, and that consistency is the point.
The Italian pantry

The Italian pantry

The shelves carry imported olive oils from all over Italy, balsamic vinegars from Modena, hand-selected pastas, sauces, condiments, truffle products, and dolci you won't find at a regular grocery store. Customers are greeted by an impressive selection of imported cheeses, meats, olive oils, pastas, and freshly hand-made mozzarella. Whether you're craving a classic Italian sub, a warm bowl of homemade soup, or a unique specialty ingredient you can't find anywhere else, Mia Famiglia has something to tempt every palate.
Mia famiglia means my family

Mia famiglia means my family

The name isn't just generic branding. It's how we operate – as a family. Regulars are greeted by name, first-timers are walked through the shelves, and every catering platter comes from the same kitchen, made with the same care as if we were serving it to our own family. Stop by to pick up that special ingredient to make your dish authentic, or simply to enjoy a taste of Italy right here at home.
